If you want to get the taste of Bucharest and a glimpse of Romanian food history, this cooking class is the best way to spend 3 hours of your visit.

From a Romanian born owner of the business and a Persian resident lady Chef, this experience is a statement of genuine care for both guests, ingredients and local heritage. We hope to show you Bucharest’s best kept secret.

We are continuously researching and pursuing both Romanian traditional food that we are so accustomed to, but also the New Romananian cuisine that is beginning to emerge and charm Romanians. The food menus options that you will receive upon booking your cooking class are inspired from different areas of Romania and showcase the appealing influences of the Balkans.

The 107 years old house that is now home to Société Gourmet is a former Jewish merchant’s house  built in ‘Little Paris ‘ architectural style, situated in the centre of Bucharest within an old merchant’s neighbourhood of old houses still holding up strong. The generous back yard with a summer kitchen and herb garden can treat us with a beautiful setting, just perfect for cooking, grilling, eating and sipping on a glass of local wine. And because we have Joe in the backyard (a BBQ-Smoker chuck wagon mean machine), we grill our own eggplants for the famous Eggplant Salad and smoke our own meats.

COOKING & WINE PAIRING 4H

Hey, you! Yes, you. I suspect you are a traveler. A ‘fine things’ admirer taking his time and sipping on this what we call life. You appreciate the small things in life, your heart is hungry for the world and as I guess, you know what terroir stands for. Especially for you, we have designed this authentic experience that will add to your journey and collection of fine living memories.

After your cooking class and right before your second bite, we will introduce you to some of our authentic local grapes and excellent wines from small (and chic) Romanian wineries. Sure, we also have Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Riesling (and the list goes on) but I wouldn’t let you miss a genuine Fetească Neagra, Băbească Neagra (English: ’Black Maiden’ / ‘Old Maiden’ grape variety only grown in Romania), the unique fragrance of Tâmâioasă Românească or the poetry of a Crâmpoșie.

We will then follow a 10 minute walk home on one of the oldest boulevards and the first paved street of the capital (in 1825): Calea Moșilor. Once reached to Société Gourmet’s home, get ready for some hands-on cooking and finally a sit-down multi-course meal.
