When we arrived, the first thing everyone said was ´wow´. The venue had such a nice atmosphere, the interior, the music, the welcoming staff…we felt comfortably and relaxed right away. Dupa ce i-am cunoscut pe Raluca si Daniel, am stiu ca sarbatorirea Craciunului va fi cu totul speciala. Si uite asa, intr-o seara magica, ne-am adunat 25 de persoane in casa Societe Gourmet, intampinati de o atmosfera extrem de primitoare, cu o foarte buna organizare din partea gazdelor, cu un puternic sentiment de “acasa”. Fiind primul eveniment care iesea din tiparul cinei clasice de Craciun, am intrat in joc, unii dintre noi mai timizi, altii curiosi, si ne-am lasat purtati in povestile lui Daniel, povesti frumos mirositoare si extrem de gustoase, ce starneau exclamatii de uimire la fiecare pas, pentru ce gustam, pentru ce facea Daniel dar mai ales pentru ce reuseam noi sa facem sub indrumarea sa!
A fost o seara aplaudata de toti, chiar si de cei care nu s-au aratat neaparat interesati de gatit, tocmai pt ca evenimentul te scoate din cotidian. Daniel are capacitatea de a starni chiar si cel mai retras participant care reuseste intr-un final sa faca cele mai frumoase paste :))
Structura programului a facilitat apropierea participantilor, a deschis subiecte de discutie si de “degustare”, de competitie si de conexiune.
Chiar si acum, dupa o luna de la eveniment, se povesteste despre truda si avalansa de arome ale bomboanelor de ciocolata care au inchis seara exceptional!

The team who cooks together, works better together!
This is what a team of managers from Microsoft Global Business Support discovered after a hard day of meetings, when we joined Daniel, Razvan and Raluca for an evening of gourmet cooking and wine tasting @ Madame Pogany. The challenges this time were not about our key performance indicators, but different: why make linear grissini when you can make pretzels, what to do with a bottle of palinca when for dessert you only need a small cup, how to make your own ravioli after tasking 3 types of delicious Romanian wine and who moved the pancetta? We were so proud of our cooking and most of all of our team work, it was difficult to leave the event! So while the buses were waiting patiently, we stopped in front of the restaurant and continued talking, laughing, praising each other and having a great time! We brought that energy back in the office, so Thank You, Societe Gourmet, for helping us become a stronger team!

Unique, “sensorial” and interesting experience, delicious food and cool, calm and patient chef. The menu was extremely interesting, we liked that we learned some good tricks in the kitchen from this. Even though some of us had done this before, for them this was above expectations.
We had fun, we worked together and we enjoyed every step of the process (especially the part where we ate what we cooked…some of us were astonished that THAT dish came out of their hands).

Evenimentul organizat impreuna cu Société Gourmet a reprezentat o alta modalitate de a stimula spiritul de echipa, intr-un domeniu cu care nu eram familiarizati, si anume bucataria gourmet.
A fost o seara cu experiente noi, cu ingrediente si arome rafinate si inedite, o seara in care fiecare dintre noi a contribuit prin efort propriu la succesul meniului final.
Impreuna cu Daniel si Razvan, am aflat cate ceva din tainele acestei bucatarii, dar si din secretele degustarii de vinuri.
Au fost momente speciale, care ne-au “deschis apetitul” pentru a experimenta si noi insine retete gastronomice de calitate.

We first came in contact with Raluca and Daniel in 2010 when all we knew was that we want something different from everything we have done so far. This “request” usually puzzles most, but to no surprise we found not one, but several proposals from them, all different and each promising a different but unitary culinary experience. They really went the extra mile and managed to set a milestone for what today we call a “team experience”. Our latest event with them involved an even bigger challenge. 140 people dressed for a cocktail party who were asked to prepare sweets and get their hands dirty…in chocolate. Again the dynamic duo managed to unite us in a delicious way!
I recommend “Societe Gourmet” for more than just “a cooking event”, I recommend them for what we felt every time we worked together, and for that “je ne sais qua” for which you always come back!

Pe 23.aprilie.2012, cand m-am apucat de un regim de slabit, m-am gandit ca mancarea de dieta nu ar trebui sa fie neaparat „la fel de fiecare data” sau „fara gust” (apropo, e motivul principal pentru care dietele se abandoneaza atat de rapid)
Mi-am cumparat carti si am experimentat una-alta prin bucatarie, insa din pacate, a devenit evident ca desi bunavointa exista, era nevoie de mult (MULT) „adult-supervision” (combinatul ingredientelor si cantitatilor dupa ureche era destul departe de asteptarile mele referitoare la… produsul final)
Am avut primul curs la Societe Gourmet in iulie si am devenit repejor client fidel.
Am fost la cel putin 1-2 cursuri pe luna, iar progresul in arta bucataritului (spun prietenii si familia) a fost remarcabil.
Fix un an mai tarziu:
– am fix 40 de kilograme in minus
– am cel putin 40% pretentii in plus atunci cand decid ce vreau sa mananc (e foarte usor sa te obisnuiesti cu binele… odata ce ai incercat tot felul de bunatati)
– primesc cu 140% mai multe intrebari „auzi, nu faci si tu ceva bun in weekend?”

Cursurile Societe Gourmet nu sunt (doar) cursuri de gatit. Sunt un mod de viata: afli secrete mici despre aluaturi si secrete mari despre calitatea produselor gourmet din Bucuresti, petreci cateva ore alaturi de oameni cu aceeasi pasiune pentru a trai frumos ca si tine, razi, mirosi, gusti. La final, toate felurile minunate pe care le pregatesti impreuna cu Daniel, insotite de un vin obligatoriu asortat, se transforma in cina perfecta pentru toti cei ce am muncit…si ne-am distrat.
Cehov spunea ca un om trebuie sa fie frumos de la haine pana la suflet. Daniel si Raluca sunt oameni frumosi. Frumos si gustos este tot ceea ce fac ei. La fel si timpul petrecut in compania lor. Abia astept duminica viitoare!

I have attended cooking schools in several countries over the last 5 years and I rate Societe Gourmet in Bucharest as the most excellent in many ways. The standards for the school are equal to fine restaurant standards, well above home cooking standards. Imagine going to the best restaurant in Bucharest and having the chef invite you into the kitchen to show you all his secrets! This is the elegant experience awaiting you at Societe Gourmet. Chef Daniel has all the skills of a well-schooled European chef and a fantastic wealth of knowledge about food chemistry; as he teaches your hands and eyes what to do, he is explaining why it is happening; this makes the difference between simple showing and educating. I especially appreciate his modern, lighter, healthier touch to all the classic dishes. For each dish, Chef Daniel demonstrates professional plating techniques to make the healthy food look posh and elegant. His partner Raluca procures the freshest highest quality ingredients for each dish. And you are given specially prepared menu books to take home so you can repeat the recipes at home. The whole experience occurs in an open loft-style Bucharest restaurant with a hip vibe. And the highlight is that when you sit down to dine on what you have cooked with your fellow students, Chef Daniel offers detailed instruction in the perfect wine pairings for each dish and he places a special focus on organic Romanian wines.

Pentru noi a fost o experienta noua si foarte placuta. O sa vorbesc si in numele colegilor mei si o sa va spun MULTUMESC pentru cateva ore minunate in care am uitat de prezentari oficiale, sedinte, decizii de business, cateva ore in care am fost doar prieteni. Sunteti profesionisti si foarte carismatici ceea ce ne-a facut si pe noi deschisi catre minunatele si complicatele taine ale bucatariei.

A couple of weeks ago i saw a movie with Ewan McGregor playing the role of a chef. One thing i remember about it was a line he mentioned- “Fish is my thing”, that i thought was brilliant. I never imagined i would meet someone with the passion to express “food is my thing” until i’ve attended your class. The level of commitment, the spark you’ve put into the meeting, your approach to the food that brings us together has transformed our casual team encounter into an unforgettable event. Thank you for that and thank you for having organized such a first class meeting for us. I hope we will get the chance to cook with you again in the near future.
